Sunflower Bird Feeders

Sunflower plants make perfect natural bird feeders. Once the plant has grown to maturity, the seeds will dry out in the sun and the sunflower head will wilt. Smaller birds like finches can sit right on the sunflower while others will snatch the sunflower seeds that drop to the ground. It is best to cut the flower heads off and place them in a higher location which makes the birds feel safe. You can watch the birds eat the sunflower seeds all winter long from the comfort of our kitchen window.
